Jaladah AslamSenior Associate, Statewide Outreach
Jaladah— For 30 years, she served the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) in several capacities. First as a rank and file union leader, then as Staff Representative for Ohio Council 8 for 23 years. She has mobilized the minority community to elect numerous candidates including former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, former President Barack Obama, and numerous local candidates in the Youngstown area including the sweep of African American candidates that won their Youngstown city races in 2017. Jaladah is President of the Youngstown Warren Black Caucus (YWBC), Sargent of Arms of the Mahoning Trumbull AFL-CIO, and Vice Chair of Community Mobilization Coalition (CMC), which is a conglomeration of eighteen minority organizations galvanized to register, educate, and mobilize voters in the Youngstown minority community. She is a former member of the Ohio Democratic Party Executive Committee and Vice Chair of Labor for the Mahoning Democratic Party.
